Safety Training for Affiliates

Required Protocol for Barnard College, Union Theological Seminary, and Other Affiliates

Individuals at Barnard College, Union Theological Seminary, and Teachers College may be eligible to access certain Columbia facilities. In addition, retirees, emeriti, and academic visitors pre-approved by their departmental administrator may be granted access on a case-by-case basis.

Under all circumstances, individuals accessing the Columbia campus must fulfill the required protocol below. 


New employees who have not been issued or activated their UNI should follow the visitor protocol and complete a paper form and return it to Human Resources.

REQUIRED PROTOCOL FOR RETURNING TO CAMPUS

1. Read the Enhanced University Health and Safety Policy

This policy has been established to help protect individuals in the Columbia community and our neighbors.

2. Read and Sign the Health Compact

Everyone who returns to campus must sign the University Health Compact, which can be found in the required online safety training.

3. Take Safety Training

If you are returning to campus, you must take the COVID-19 safety course before you return to campus.

4. Get Tested

To provide an additional layer of safety, Columbia will require an initial single COVID-19 PCR diagnostic test of all faculty, staff, and students returning to campus.

5. Complete the Daily Symptom Self-check

All faculty, staff, and students must complete a daily symptom self-check before enter ing campus.

Safety Training Requirements

Barnard College Faculty and Staff

Barnard College faculty and staff who need to access the Columbia University campus must complete the required protocols including the safety training COVID-19 Training: Safe Work and Study at Columbia University (TC5800 Rascal).

Barnard College Students

Barnard College students who need to access the Columbia University campus must complete the required protocols including the safety training Keeping Our Community Healthy.

Union Theological Seminary Faculty and Staff

Union Theological Seminary faculty and staff who need to access the Columbia University campus must complete the required protocols, including the safety training COVID-19 Training: Safe Work and Study at Columbia University (TC5800 Rascal).

Union Theological Seminary Students

Union Theological Seminary students who need to access the Columbia University campus must complete the required protocols, including the safety training Keeping Our Community Healthy

Teachers College Faculty, Staff, and Students

Teachers College faculty, staff, and students must complete the Teachers College preparedness protocols and show the TC “Green Pass” for entry to Columbia buildings.

Academic Visitors and Visiting Scholars

Academic visitors must be approved pursuant to the Guidelines for Visitors Participating in Academic Activities. Approved academic visitors and visiting scholars who need to access the Columbia University campus must complete the required protocols including the safety training COVID-19 Training: Safe Work at Columbia University. There can be up to a one-hour delay between completion of this training being relayed to the checkbox in the ReopenCU app. Please plan your trip to campus accordingly.

Approved Emeriti and Retirees

Prior to accessing campus, departmental approval is required. You should contact the relevant department administrator for the approval process. Approved emeriti and retirees who need to access the Columbia University campus must complete the required protocols, including the safety training COVID-19 Training: Safe Work and Study at Columbia University (TC5800 Rascal).
