Safety Training for Affiliates

Required Protocol for Barnard College, Union Theological Seminary, and Other Affiliates

Individuals at Barnard College and Union Theological Seminary may be eligible to access certain Columbia facilities. 


Under all circumstances, individuals accessing the Columbia campus must fulfill the required protocol below.

These rules—and related policies and guidelines—apply to all affiliates. You must follow all University Public Health Protocols.

Get Vaccinated and Boosted, and Upload Documentation

Get vaccinated and get a booster dose using the New York Vaccine Finder. Booster dosing is required for all faculty, staff, and students who meet eligibility criteria.

Get Tested

All individuals, including those who are fully vaccinated, will need to continue to participate in the Spring 2022 Term Testing Program.

Read and Sign the Compact

If you are new or returning to campus for the first time, sign the Columbia Community Health Compact, which can be found in the ReopenCU app.

Take Safety Training

If you are new or returning to campus for the first time, you must take the COVID-19 safety course before you arrive on campus.

Safety Training Requirements

Students, faculty, and staff of Barnard College and Union Theological Seminary who need to access the Columbia University campus must complete the required protocols above including the safety training,  COVID-19 Training: Being Safe at Columbia University (for Barnard, UTS, and Other Special Affiliates).


There can be up to a one-hour delay between completion of this training and that information being relayed to the ReopenCU app. Plan your trip to campus accordingly.

Teachers College Faculty, Staff, and Students

Teachers College faculty, staff, and students must complete the Teachers College preparedness protocols and show the TC “Green Pass” for entry to TC buildings. 

Academic Visitors and Visiting Scholars

Academic visitors must be approved pursuant to the Guidelines for Visitors Participating in Academic Activities. Approved academic visitors and visiting scholars who need to access the Columbia campus must complete the required protocols including the safety training COVID-19 Training: Working Safely at Columbia University.

Approved Emeriti and Retirees

Prior to accessing campus, departmental approval is required. Contact the relevant department administrator for the approval process. Approved emeriti and retirees who need to access campus must complete the required protocols, including the safety training COVID-19 Training: Being Safe at Columbia University (for Barnard, UTS, and Other Special Affiliates).
